Measures taken to prevent the destruction of unsold consumer products

We take significant steps to prevent the destruction of unsold consumer goods by prioritising reuse routes, including resale through sample sale channels and sales to third-party product resellers.

Destruction of unsold goods only occurs as a last resort where products are required to be destroyed, for example due to a legal requirement, a health & safety requirement, or in cases where products cannot be sold (i.e. due to offensive content), reused or otherwise reworked.

In recent years we have invested significantly in ensuring we purchase the right amount of product to match consumer demand, as part of our focus on implementing a more efficient operating model. This includes our Test & React model, where we test customer demand for product before ordering in volume, enabling us to operate more efficiently.

Every product we purchase is a potential sale, and our commercial success is driven by maximising those sales. That means it is not in our interest to discard or destroy unsold goods.

Measures planned to prevent the destruction of unsold consumer products

Discipline in our buying practices to ensure we purchase the right volume of product remains a key focus for our business.

To support future reporting, we plan to implement additional data collection processes to verify assumptions related to product reseller behaviour, improve visibility of waste treatment routes and, where applicable, derogations, in future disclosures.
