As part of our work to help create a culture where everyone feels they belong, the GLH Culture Council identified Pride as an opportunity to bring ASOSers together, celebrate the LGBTQIA+ community, and continue building our culture where everyone feels included and able to be themselves. This weekend, I had the opportunity to attend London Pride alongside fellow ASOSers. It was also great to see leader support including Board Member, Natasja Laheij, reflecting our shared commitment to creating a culture where everyone feels included and has a sense of belonging.
One of the highlights of the day for me was seeing thousands of people lining the streets, celebrating, cheering and showing support for the LGBTQIA+ community. The warmth and encouragement from people of all ages created a real sense of belonging and reminded me how powerful allyship can be. As someone who is part of the community, seeing that level of support was incredibly meaningful. What made the experience even more special was sharing it with my fiancée at her first Pride and seeing her feel so comfortable, accepted and free to be herself. 🌈
Being at Pride reminded me how powerful belonging can be. Like many in the LGBTQIA+ community, I've experienced moments where I've felt the need to hide parts of myself. That's why Pride means so much to me. It's a celebration of community, authenticity and the allies who help create spaces where people feel seen, supported and able to be themselves.
It’s a chance for us all to reflect on our everyday actions, conversations and allyship that help create an environment where we can thrive together.
It was incredible to see so many people coming together to celebrate individuality and self-expression. Seeing ASOS represented at London Pride again this year also reinforced the importance of creating environments where everyone feels comfortable being themselves and knows they belong.
One thing I took away from the day was the power of allyship and community. Seeing so many people come together in support of the LGBTQIA+ community reinforced that creating an inclusive environment isn't just the responsibility of those within the community. It's something we all contribute to through our actions, our support and our willingness to stand alongside one another.
